I shot a roll of black and white film through my Diana camera last week. Aside from, or maybe because of, the horrible mini-lab development and scanning, I like this frame pretty well for its utterly low fidelity.
The camera is pretty much entirely made of plastic and it definitely shows in the results. Many a photographer and artist have produced stunning imagery with this and other toy cameras. I hope to join the ranks with some cool pictures of my own.
Diana offers little to no control over such rudimentary aspects as aperture, shutter speed, focus, and composition. In that respect, it is arbitrarily freeing to use. It's also pretty thrilling to see what the latest plastic vision has rendered.
It's basically an exercise in happy accidents.
Note: the Diana shoots a square image, but in this case the full digital scan included light leaks and other whatnot that I think add something.
